Peter and Aaron’s Big Day

At ‘The Spiritual Habitat’, a glorious unique setting at The Protea Patch, Matakana on a balmy Sunday April afternoon, two guys, meant for each other, made their lifelong commitment to their partner with some 90 family and closest friends as their guests and witnesses.

It was a perfect setting, on a perfect day; Peter and Aaron mixed with their guests welcoming each as they arrived at the wedding destination.

Strains of beautiful classical music played by a string trio, wafting through the gardens set the scene for what was to be one of the most poignant ceremonies I have had the privilege of conducting.

The guest list both colourful and interesting was certainly another fabulous dynamic to a perfect day.

Peter and Aaron’s words from the heart, clearly heard as a silence reigned: words never more carefully written, more sincerely intended.

It was the happiest of days with family and friends determined to be there in numbers and in spirit.

Veuve Clicquot flowed freely, laughter and comradeship in abundance. Snap-happy guests made sure Peter and Aaron would have plenty to remember the day by.

Then it was on to the Matakana Pub where Peter’s niece and her husband hosted an evening of celebration: finger food, bubbles and more.

The ‘piece de resistance’ would have to be the ‘Wedding Cake’ - 3 opulent tiers of cream each different but harmonious in design, top of Aaron’s must-have list for their big day.

And so the night rolled on. Beginning with the speeches, by then the party was in full swing...

Lyndsay Loveridge – Civil Union Celebrant

"Having known Lyndsay for many years as a friend and a mentor. It was an honour to have her officiate our ceremony. Lyndsay has a grace and eloquence that bring an air of class and distinction to any event.

Lyndsay guided us through many options and possibilities for our service, while leaving us free to create words and a structure that we were comfortable with.

Lyndsays' attention to detail and caring approach are to her credit, but was able to cheerfully take one of our rather important oversights in her stride.

The end result was a truly beautiful civil union that captured perfectly our wishes and feelings for each other. The service was the perfect mix of laughter, emotion and words from the heart.

Thank you so much Lyndsay for a magical day that we will absolutely always remember!"
